Lynn A. Buskey has been recognized as an Expert Network Distinguished Professional.
Lynn A. Buskey is a distinguished lawyer based in Boston, Massachusetts. Buskey is a leading attorney in estate law with eighteen years of experience planning and administering estates of all levels of wealth and complexity.
As she tells it, Buskey’s decision to pursue a career in law was a natural one.
I wanted to be able to help people and I went into estate planning because I knew I could help people during a real time of need in terms of their estate administration and getting their affairs in order.
With an eye toward this magnanimous goal, Buskey enrolled in Suffolk University School of Law, earning her Juris Doctor in 1995. She continued at Suffolk’s Sawyer School of Management to complete her Master of Business Administration. After taking a keen interest in estate law, Buskey went on to earn a Master of Laws degree in Estate Planning from the University of Miami School of Law.
Beyond her own practice, Buskey also serves as Of Counsel to the estate planning Law Firm of Rachel M. Wassel, in Foxboro, Massachusetts. Widely regarded as an intellectual authority in estate planning, she has authored numerous articles and lectured on different estate and tax planning topics, and has served as an expert witness at trial testifying with respect to gift and estate tax matters.
Dedicated to giving back to her community, Buskey uses her skills and knowledge in estate law to the benefit of several organizations throughout the Boston area. Notably, she served as a member of the Tufts Medical Center Gift Planning Council to assist with fundraising with a focus on gifts and bequests to the Medical Center and Tufts Floating Hospital for Children. She also prepares estate plans for indigent clients through the Women's Bar Association's Elder Law Project.
As a leader in her field, Buskey keeps a close eye on prevailing trends in estate law. In particular, she is paying attention to changes in Massachusetts’ laws that have affected the nature of her practice.
There has been a significant change in the estate tax laws that has changed my practice in that it has taken away some of the need to do the estate tax planning that we have traditionally done. Right now, it's only high net worth individuals that need the sophisticated estate tax planning.
After nearly two decades dedicated to law, Buskey’s career shows no signs of slowing down. Looking to the future, she envisions continuous growth for her practice as she cements her legacy as a true leader in estate law.
